Tire Clearcoat - 6 oz and 16 oz.

TIRE CLEARCOAT

A 6 oz. bottle will coat approximately 20 passenger tires with 2 coats each.

First time users should purchase the TUF SHINE - Tire
Shine Kit with the Tire Cleaner and tire brush included.

This revolutionary tire dressing will outperform any other tire dressing you have ever used. The water-based formula contains NO silicones or oils, and provides a shine that will last for several months.

TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat dries to the touch in just seconds and will not crack. If you are tired of using "run of the mill" tire dressings that leave an oily, sticky residue and attracts dust and dirt, then this is the product for you.

TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat is the complete opposite. It seals the rubber and keeps factory lubricants from escaping. The superior protection provided by TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat adds to the longevity of the sidewalls. It has anti-static properties that repel dust, dirt and water.

TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat will coat and seal whitewalls and raised white lettering to keep them looking bright and white. This remarkable tire finish will not turn brown and there is no "spin-off" or residue of any kind. It will withstand repeated pressure washings. TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat is perfect for rubber floor mats as well, just clean surfaces with TUF SHINE Tire Cleaner and apply TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat to restore mats to a "better than new" appearance.

CAUTION: TUF SHINE may make mats a little more slippery.

* For best results, TUF SHINE Tire Cleaner is required before the TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat.

How TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat is different

Competitive products are designed to lubricate the rubber. This lubrication washes off or evaporates over time. When this happens, protection is lost and it's then necessary to repeatedly apply dressings to maintain the desired shine and protection.

To maintain a "Wet" look with other product you would have to constantly clean and apply dressings. Heavy-duty cleaners are required to remove the residue build-up left behind by most silicone-based dressings. Constant cleaning with harsh chemicals can remove factory lubricants that are built into the tire's sidewalls and cause oxidation and dry cracks to appear. These same cleaners, when used regularly, can potentially ruin the finish on expensive wheels.

TUF SHINE has taken a different approach the opposite to that of our competitors. Here are some of the features of TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat:

- Perfect for autos, trucks, cycles, RV's, trailers, ATV's and more
- Lasts for months & months & months
- Withstands repeated high-pressure washings
- Seals in factory lubricants and creates a barrier to protect sidewalls against weather damage.
- Contains NO OILS or SILICONE that can cause dirt and dust to cling to tires
- NO SLING OFF! This usually occurs with other "WET" look tire dressings
- Anti-static. Since dust won't cling to TUF SHINE, you can now dust your tires!
- You control the shine. The more coats, the more shine
- Gives tires a deep black "WET" look, which enhances the cars appearance
- Water based for easy cleanup
- Will greatly outlast most oil and water based silicone tire dressings
- Adds a permanent shine to old, dull looking tires
- Seals whitewalls and white lettering to prevent road grime from turning white areas brown or gray

The tire cleaner provided is a first time only cleaning/prep. Once the clearcoat is applied, maintaining the shine is easy. Wash tires with mild soap and water and a soft car wash brush, a much safer way to clean tires. Tires will not brown, which is usually caused by dirt clinging to the oily residue left behind by other dressings. Sidewalls will stay looking like new when properly maintained.

Instructions

PROPER PREPARATION IS THE KEY TO A LASTING FINISH!
DO NOT CLEAN SURFACES IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT OR WHEN HOT.

Caution, tire cleaner may stain bare aluminum, test small area first.

1.     It is important to follow the cleaning instructions carefully to yield the best results.

2.     CAUTION:  Liquid consistency is very thin, and could easily spill and stain surfaces.  Set opened bottle on waterproof pad and protect the surface area under and around the tire/trim to avoid staining those areas. Keep a wet rag handy as spills dry very quickly.

3.     Spray TUF SHINE Tire Cleaner on tire/trim and allow it to set for 60 seconds.  Wet tire brush only with hose and scrub thoroughly around raised letters and grooves. Scrub in the direction of grooves, then 90 degrees to them. Rinse brush thoroughly after each scrubbing with direct stream of water from hose.  Do one tire/trim section at a time.

4.     Follow up with a final cleaning using the TUF SHINE Tire Cleaner to remove any remaining residue.  Allow to dry and apply the TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat to the tires. The factory lubricants still in the tire are now sealed in and will not allow the rubber to dry out or crack.  We have followed this procedure ourselves without any negative consequences.

5.     REPEAT this process a second time, or as needed UNTIL SUDS APPEAR WHITE.  THE WHITE SUDS INDICATE THE TIRE IS CLEAN.  This ensures that the tire/trim is properly prepared for the TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat finish.  TUF SHINE will stick to rubber, but it will not stick to silicone.  That’s why this initial cleaning process is so important. Investing the extra time to properly clean the tires/trim will yield excellent results.

6.  The tire should have a dull black look when properly cleaned.

7.  Use the Tire Cleaner for initial cleaning only.  The Tire Cleaner will dull the finish after applied and may remove portions of it. (See line 8 below for care instructions)

Applying Tire Clearcoat

1. Wear gloves provided to protect skin as it is difficult to remove from skin and nails.

  1. Shake well.  Apply to COOL, DRY surfaces only. DO NOT APPLY IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT, OR IN COLD TEMPERATURES BELOW 5O DEGREES F.
  2. Open and press dispenser nozzle into sponge and dispense a small amount into the applicator sponge to prime the sponge.
  3. Apply a smooth even coat.  Follow the circular pattern of the tire.  Smooth out any runs.  If any black residue is drawn onto wheels or paint, wipe off immediately with a damp towel.  Allow the product to dry between coats.  Liberal applications of 2nd and 3rd coats may be needed.  Draw out any runs.  Dried on product can be removed with rubbing alcohol on a soft slightly damp cloth.

5.   When done applying the Tire Clearcoat, rinse applicator sponge thoroughly with water for future use.

6.   We recommend that 2 or more coats of TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat for additional shine and protection.

  1. Care for the tires as you would the car’s paint.  Use clear water and a soft car wash brush or mild soap and water for heavier dirt and mud.  This will prolong the finish.  Re-apply TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat as needed for desired shine level.

Troubleshooting TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat

Occasionally we get calls from customers about problems with the Tire Clearcoat not adhering and flaking off the tire.  In almost all cases we were able to resolve the problem.

The following are recommendations to avoid or repair a problem.

1.    First, we stress reading the cleaner instructions and following them carefully.  Proper cleaning is the key to success!  The best gauge as to whether or not the tires are clean is to scrub and rinse the tire repeatedly until the suds are white, usually 2 or 3 times.  99% of the time this is true and the results are what are expected and the customer is thrilled with the results.

2.    Some customers suggest that you clean the tires and then drive for a day or two to let any remaining residue that may be left in the pores to surface and then do a final cleaning with TUF SHINE Tire Cleaner.

3.    Do not rinse the tire brush in a bucket of water between cleanings. The water will get contaminated by the silicone residue on the brush and you will re-introduce silicone onto the tire.  Rinse the brush with a stream of water from a garden hose.

4.    Scrubbing in multiple directions to ensure that the ribbing and areas around lettering is a must.  The TUF SHINE Tire Brush supplied with the kit is designed especially for this purpose and has the right amount of scrubbing power, but still fine enough to get into these areas.

5.    If 3 cleanings are still not providing you with white suds, chances are there is a waxy petroleum based dressing on the tire.  Adding 30% household ammonia or isopropyl alcohol to the cleaner may help.  In extreme cases, cleaning with straight lacquer thinner or denatured alcohol from your local hardware store may be required (Wear protective gloves) This would be a one-time process to prep the tire for the clearcoat, and should not do any more damage to the tire than normal weathering and oxidation of the sidewall since it evaporates so rapidly.  We suggest using a slightly damp rag to slow down the evaporation of the solvent to give you more working time.  We have followed this procedure ourselves without any negative consequences.

6.    Follow up with a final cleaning using the TUF SHINE Tire Cleaner to remove any remaining residue.  Allow tire to dry before applying the TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat to the tires.  Once you seal the tire with the tire clearcoat, the factory lubricants still in the tire are locked in and will not allow the rubber to dry out or crack.

7.    If there are some areas that start to brown and flake after applying TUF SHINE Tire Clearcoat, consider going to a do-it-yourself car wash and use the tire cleaner setting and pressure wash the tires to remove the old dressing and the TUF SHINE finish in areas where it is flaking off.  Then follow the TUF SHINE cleaning process again.  Cleaning with the brush and cleaner should remove any clearcoat from stubborn areas that were not pressure washed off so that the next coat of clearcoat finish will adhere. The clearcoat that had adhered in the beginning should not be affected, but may be dull looking.  Apply additional coats, as needed, of the tire clearcoat to blend in the finish for a uniform appearance.
